Some Quotes

So I've been collecting some quotes, and these are some of my favorites: (Feel free to add your own!)

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

"Politics is like drugs, alcohol, and gambling: just another addiction," Michael Goldman, political consultant.

"Prozac, schmozac! Haven't these people ever heard of a Martini??"

America has lost a great leader. Republicans of our generation were molded by President Reagan and his strong conservative beliefs....he will be missed greatly. ~Me

FEAR ME! I believe in: God, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Keeping & Bearing Arms, the U.S. Constitution, the Unalienable Rights of All, Responsibility for One's Actions, Limited Taxes, Private Property, The Existence of Evil,
AND I VOTE!!!

"Our choice wasn't between a benign status quo and the bloodshed of war. It was between war and a graver threat. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Not our critics abroad. Not our political opponents. And certainly not a disingenuous film maker who would have us believe that Saddam's Iraq was an oasis of peace when in fact it was a place of indescribable cruelty, torture chambers, mass graves and prisons that destroyed the lives of the small children held inside their walls." -- Senator John McCain [on the Iraq War]

Friends & The New Year

So I assume it's only natural that this time of year, we look back on the events of the past year and reflect. If there is one thing that I have learned this year, I am extremely blessed to have the amazing people I know in my life. This year I have gained (and kept) some amazing, friends that will be involved in my life from here, to, well, eternity....
For the first time in a very long time, I have a great set of GIRL friends. Most people who know me, know that I can be just one of the guys. I love sports, I love to just kick back, and most of all, I don't deal with drama! Now it's not to say that guys don't have their share of drama, but it's significantly reduced by their bluntness with one another (I'm digressing, let me get back on track here). This year I've had the chance to really spend time with friends. They have been there for me through everything. They have helped me escape reality, bring me back to reality, and more than anything have just been supportive. It's been so refreshing to have these girls in my life. Not all live in close proximity, but that doesn't mean that they aren't amazing friends that are there through thick and thin. So girls, here's to another great year! I love you all!

Pacers V. Pistons, Christmas Day. Conseco Field House Posted by Hello

Christmas day my family and I went to see the first remach of the Pistons v. Pacers since the infamous basketbrawl. WHAT A GAME!! There was obviously a lot of tension surrounding this game, but everyone kept their hands to themselves (well mostly, there were fouls of course!) and played a respectable game of basketball. The crowd was great though! SOOO much energy! This was Jermaine O'Neal's first game back with the Pacers since his suspension, and boy did he get a great welcome home! Ben Wallace (the instigator from Detroit) was not so well liked by the crowed...every time he touched the ball, came on or off the court, he was booed. Unfortunately the Pacers went on to loose (thanks to a lack of ability to rebound), but it was still a great game to be at!

Thanks Dad!!

Have you ever written someone off?

Ok, so I think most of us "girls" go through this... as soon as we think we have a guy pinpointed, they turn around and surprise us. When I say pinpointed, we've either written them off, or placed them in a certain category, then they turn around and do something to surprise us. I've actually had TWO examples of this today.

1. Boy # 1 I had written off, thinking I wouldn't hear from him again after my drunken phone call last weekend. (I NEVER drunk dial, but apparently this weekend was a special occassion) Well of course he calls me this morning apologizing because he forgot to tell me that he had friends visiting this weekend from out of town, and was with them. (I know I'm probably totally naive here, but I'm a firm believer in if you don't want to talk to someone, DON'T!) But he wanted to make sure I knew that he wanted to see me....

2. Boy # 2 we talk pretty much daily, and definietly has the aura of a "playa." But he definitely has more and more moments of "sweet talk" and letting me know how much he wants to come see me and wants me to visit him. (We met here in AZ, but he lives in Cali) So every time I wonder which # in the line am I? There's that moment of, maybe he really does have interest in me...but that's when my friend and I began discussing the fact that the definition of a "playa" really comes down to making each girl feel like she's the only one, even though there's 50 of them. Haha..

So we'll leave both of these boys up in the air, simply because OBVIOUSLY if they were that in to me I wouldn't have these questions. (For those of you who haven't read "He's Just Not That Into You" - READ IT!! It's GREAT, and very funny!)

Will I ever learn?

Ok so there are two things I need to learn.... 1. It's not always necessary to give out my phone number when asked, and 2. If I'm just starting to get sick, or just getting over being sick...stay home and rest!!

So #1. this guy asked me for my # out at the bar the other night, and I for some reason decided it would be a good idea to give it to him. Well of course he called and asked me out. Since I'm the person I am, I have a problem saying no, so I agreed to go out with him this Friday. Now I'm starting to not feel so good, and I'm really thinking there's NO potential with this boy, so why am I going out with him? But of course, I didn't save his # (Why would I?) to be able to call and cancel. So now I have to show up, be the mean girl, and be like "dude, I don't feel good, I've GOT to go home." But this leads to #2....

#2. Well inevitably I'll make this guy feel horrible, and try to go home, but somewhere in the evening someone will call me to see if I want to go out. Will I say no? Of course not, I don't want to miss out on some fun! But I really think it's time for me to slow down and not party so much, I think my friends and everyone around me are starting to get tired of seeing/hearing about me being sick.

So Will I ever learn?

Do Boys think we're dumb?

OK so boys just must think that us women are completely dense. So, I had an interesting experience with a guy I've been hanging out with lately. Apparently after we parted ways yesterday to ready ourselves for a Christmas party, he apparently called my friend and left her a message saying "hey sexy, give me a call." Now earlier in the day we had all been hanging out, and if it was just a friendly thing, no big deal...but there was clearly some other ideas going through this boy's head. I mean did he think she wasn't going to call me and tell me he did this? Granted we're not together, but that still doesn't excuse him, lets have a little respect here though! I would like to think that with age comes wisdom, but this boy is not a boy he's quite the man at the age of 38. Oh well, sucks to be him... no more time with me ;-)

Jeremy Roenick and ME! :-)  Posted by Hello

Life After The Party

Although in theory a party during the week sounds like a great idea, it's not that great of an idea if you have to work the next day. I know, anyone reading this is going, ha ha ha, see what you get, and yes, I know, I'm getting what I deserve. But I'll tell ya what, Tom and Troy's party was a blast! Thanks to them for throwing a great event.

So part of what made last night so great was my most recent brush with a sports celebrity. I'm not usually too start struck, but some of my friends know the sports celebrities are far more exciting for me, and sometimes even more funn. (Hello, Bill Walton and his bottle of Crystal). Well last night we were graced with Jeremy Roenick's presence at the party. How cool is that? I know, I sound like a cheezy girl here, but it was pretty cool to meet him and get a chance to talk to him.

All in all, great night!! Keep your eyes out for the picture :-)

Perfect for the Party

So tonight is the big Tom & Troy Holiday party, and I've just been informed of my horoscope for today:

Quickie:
You know what they say about an ounce of prevention? That's never been more true.

Overview:
You'll be in such a good mood -- such an amorous, romantic mood -- that you'll be positively magnetic. Careful, though. It will be easier to turn this stuff on than to turn it off.

How perfect is that??

Getting Started...Who are these guys?

Ok so I've been getting grief for having this site up, but yet nothing posted. So Val, this is for you.

So in my life right now I've been blessed with an amazing group of girlfriends. For probably the first time since HS, I have a stable group of GIRLS that I can rely on. We have our girly moments, but for the most part we're pretty low maintenance. Most of us are perfectly happy spending a Saturday or Sunday with the boys watching a game. That doesn't mean we don't enjoy getting all dressed up and going out dancing. Well the other thing about all of us, we're all single. Since we're all single, I've begun to notice some very disturbing things!

First of all, who are these guys that think "hey come to my place and hang out" equals a date? Call us old fashioned, but I think the first few "dates" should include a meal, drinks, or some other event. If we've gone out a few times, sure, hanging out is ok, but not in the first "get to know you" stages of a relationship. I know some women would kill me for what I'm about to say here, but DAMN, this whole women's liberation movement has screwed us single women! I'm all for a chivalrous man that wants to open my doors for me, pay for dinner, and just generally treat me like a lady

Secondly, I know, we aren't all blessed with the gift of dance. Hell, sometimes I don't think I am! But if you're a guy out at the clubs, and you know you can't dance...DON'T TRY! I'm not trying to be mean, but more than anything, you're not getting bonus points for trying, but you are providing us our entertainment for the evening.

Well this is just the beginning of all I have to say, but I'm always up for a topic to go from, so feel free to leave me suggestions on what you'd like to hear about.
